The Convening 2022:
Reclaiming Education through Liberation
The Convening 2022 was a three-day event centered on reclaiming mindfulness, joy, and the power of intentional collective action. Anchored on the theme “Reclaiming Education Through Liberation”, the Convening focused on sharing tools, practices, and policies to dismantle and uproot systems of oppression within education.
Teams worked, communed, and left the event with tools, ideas, and a new network of folx to move forward on their journey of reclaiming education through liberation.
The Convening 2022 Keynote Speaker:
Dr. Bettina Love
Dr. Bettina Love is a nationally respected abolitionist educator and a powerful advocate for education reform. She is a co-founder of Abolitionist Teaching Network, a Nasir Jones Hiphop Fellow at Harvard University, and the Athletic Association Endowed Professor at the University of Georgia.
Dr. Love is the renowned author of We Want to Do More Than Survive: Abolitionist Teaching and the Pursuit of Educational Freedom and Hip Hop’s Li’l Sistas Speak: Negotiating Hip Hop Identities and Politics in the New South
